Throughout the story we learn the motive for the murder, mainly to avenge the honour that was allegedly taken from the Vicario family. While we do not get to know Santiago Nasar on a personal level, we do receive enough information to draw our own conclusions of whether or not he was innocent or guilty of taking Angela Vicario’s virginity.
